Twittamentary looks at how lives connect and intersect within the Twitter community as the real-time web accelerates serendipity. Bonds are forged as a result of unexpected encounters between strangers as they share moments of their lives real time. The film is created in the open spirit of the Web. Twitter users are invited to contribute story ideas, rich media and videos to the film via the movie website. The launch of the Twittamentary website in August 2009 soon led to a whirlwind road trip across USA, where the filmmaker interviewed a wide range of Twitter’ers,from a travel journalist turned “twilebrity” to a homeless women who uses twitter from a public library to a prostitute who uses twitter as her personal GPS.

Not only is this film about Twitter, it is made by leveraging the power of Twitter.  Twitter’er submitted stories to the movie website and also provided real time story leads and suggestions as we traveled from city to city on a road trip.  In Chicago, for instance, the Twitter’ers essentially coordinated the entire shoot for us in real time, pointing us to the events and stories worth covering.  Now that the film is ready for release, Twitter’ers around the world have come forward, offering to set up screenings of the film.

The Filmmaker, Siok Siok(@sioksiok) will be on hand to answer questions and hear your thoughts about Twittamentary.

Mobile games are getting social. The introduction of social games on Facebook platform a few years ago has disrupted the online gaming industry. Today, mobile and social games are the fasted growing segments in the video game industry. Although still in a nascent stage, mobile social gaming is full of potential. Come join us at the latest edition of SMCkl monthly meeting and meet Avram Score and Jens Stammers.

Avram Score
In 2002, Avram began working with entrepreneurs Matthew Bellows and Cashman Andrus to develop what would quickly become the premier site devoted mobile entertainment coverage: Wireless Gaming Review. During a frenetic two years leading up to the sale of WGR to CNET, Avery created all of the content for the site, whilst simultaneously contributing on a monthly basis to the print publications Electronic Gaming Monthly, Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, and Mobile Entertainment Analyst. WGR made its content available to Sprint and Verizon users, deploying a slew of reviews directly on the carriers’ respective download services, providing a professional point-of-purchase opinion on the quality of each piece of downloadable content.

After WGR became a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNET, it was reborn as GameSpot Mobile. Avery headed the division, creating a product worthy of the GameSpot brand, with the goal of interesting a hardcore gaming audience in mobile entertainment. Avery created textual and video reviews, previews and feature content, and also made regular appearances on GameSpot’s On the Spot programme, providing GameSpot’s large online audience with updates on the latest and greatest for their handsets.

After leaving GameSpot in 2006, Avery did independent consulting work for Sprint’s game division, as well as for mobile developer Vir2L Studios, mobile developer Pulse Entertainment, and Nokia’s N-Gage team. He has since worked as a mobile and web developer, working both as an independent consultant and an entrepreneur, specialising in social networking and social media (http://suterastudio.com).

Jens Stammers
With over fourteen years of experience as an interactive developer, Jens Stammers is in the business of crafting creative solutions to challenging problems. Jens cut his teeth in Silicon Valley during the halcyon days of the Dot Boom, and has since brought his skills and insight to startups and Fortune 500 companies alike on four continents. Throughout his diverse career, Jens has always remained a mobile evangelist and a staunch advocate of emerging technologies in the wireless space. This month SMCkl celebrates its first anniversary. Time really flies. In the past 12 months Malaysia has seen its own ups and downs. With #yorais trending on twitter to the recent police report filed by TNB over a satirical blog post, it is evident that the world we live in has dramatically changed with the advent of social media.
